Design Contest has started! This Year’s Topic: Dining Outdoors

A new great opportunity for designers, newcomers or big names alike: following the overwhelming success of last year’s garden unique design contest, which was held supported by jovoto.com, there will be a new brief this year. There is a call for designs for objects perfect for culinary occasions under the open sky. From easy to carry furniture or parasols for the picnic with family and friends right up to the outdoor kitchen complete with chairs and shading to cater for professional and exclusive big festivities.

With this design contest, garden unique wants to bring inspiration to the sector and further the growth of the participants. Following the great success of the contest last year (we’ve featured it here), it will be held for a second time this year. As happened last year, the results of the design contest will be presented in a central exhibition open for international exhibitors and visitors of the fair and published in a yearbook. The designs of the jury’s winners will even be manufactured as prototypes.

It is the aim of garden unique to once more present innovative, new concepts in the world of premium outdoor object to exhibitors and visitors of the fair. The exhibition area of the design contest is one of the magnets of garden unique and underlines the innovative focus of the event. Hosting it with jovoto.com means that every member of the jovoto community can submit designs of their own as well as vote on works by others.

Participants in the contest have the chance to win not only the community prize money but also the jury prize and the building of a prototype that comes with it. garden unique also offers a comprehensive media presence for selected designs. Beyond this, garden unique offers the participants the possibility of direct contact to the sector as well as the chance to realise their ideas in cooperation with manufacturers.

Once again, there will be a jury of high-profile professionals: they are Herbert Seckler, CEO SANSIBAR Sylt, Milan-based designer Marc Sadler and Ralf Ferdinand Broekman, publisher and editor-in-chief of build Magazine as well as Marcus Fairs, editor-in-chief of dezeen.com, architect Patrick Nadeau, co-founder and managing director of architonic.com, Tobias Lutz, and Rüdiger Sprave, event manager of Koelnmesse.

To read the contest brief and upload your designs (until June 6) go to gardenunique.com/contest. Here you can also vote for your favourite design until June 14.

UPDATE: The deadline has been extended until June 21! Vote for your favourite design until June 28.
